How we use it
MySQL or MariaDB is our pick where a client's stack is already built around it — Laravel estates and legacy PHP applications, mostly. We do not migrate a working database off it just to standardise; we work with what earns its keep.
What we use it for
- Laravel / Eloquent — the conventional pairing for PHP product work
- Managed hosting — RDS for MySQL, Azure Database for MySQL, or Cloud SQL
- Replication — read replicas for reporting and scale
Our standards
Migrations versioned alongside the application code. Automated backups with a tested restore path. Indexes reviewed before go-live, not after a slow query in production.
